World AIDS Day, The HEAT Program received an award from NYC Mayor, Michael Bloomberg
In commemoration of World AIDS Day on December 1, 2009, The HEAT Program received an award from NYC Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, in recognition of HEAT's outstanding work with HIV+ adolescents in New York City. Program Director, Dr. Jeffrey M. Birnbaum and Program Administrator, Jennifer Irwin, accepted the award on behalf of the Program. NYC Health Commissioner, Dr. Thomas Farley, was present to assist Mayor Bloomberg in presenting HEAT its award.

Legends Ball
The HEAT "Legends Ball" took place on Saturday, June 5th at the Lab 1428 Fulton Street in Brooklyn from 5pm-11pm. The atmosphere was positive and energetic as over 300 LGBT youth brough their A-Game in fierce battles to win the prizes for all of the categories. HEAT honored youth in the Kiki scene and gave special awards for being a Legend, Statement or a Star. Several community partners participated and tabled at the event distributing safe sex supplies and health resources. HEAT provided free and confidential HIV rapid testing in conjunction with the NYC Department of Health who provided STD/STI screening. Be on the look-out for HEAT's next Ball!!!
