Your beacon of empowerment and inclusivity in the journey towards a healthier, HIV-free Brooklyn. As we gear up for PrEP Aware Week 2023, we're here to tell you that 'PrEP is for Every Body'!

Our mission is simple: to ensure everyone in our vibrant borough has access to quality PrEP services. But what we're truly passionate about is fostering an environment where all bodies are celebrated, and all sexual activities are seen as fundamentally healthy.

This year, we're thrilled to introduce our diverse team of ambassadors who embody our ethos of sex positivity and body positivity. From combat veterans to social media influencers, our ambassadors are advocates for PrEP and sexual health. They're here to share their experiences, insights, and to inspire everyone that PrEP is indeed for every body.

What is, Brooklyn is PrEP’d!:

Brooklyn is PrEP'd!, is the joint collaborative PrEP program between the HEAT Program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and The PATH Center, at The Brooklyn Hospital Center.  Since 2016, both health centers have worked together to ensure that everyone in Brooklyn (and other boroughs), has the ability to access quality PrEP services at either of our easily accessible campuses.

Our collaborative relationship allows us to ensure that virtually all forms of health insurance (private, Medicaid, or PrEP-AP) are accepted. With the co-location of other healthcare services at both facilities, we can ensure that many other issues facing our PrEP clients can be addressed in-house, thus improving the continuity and thoroughness of care. Brooklyn is PrEP’d! understands the difficulty that many have in accessing sexual health services for numerous reasons. We believe in taking an active role in promoting sexual health in Brooklyn and we participate in numerous outreach events such as health fairs, street festivals, and PrEP 101 educational trainings.

We host our bi-annual Brooklyn is PrEP’d! Network Meetings in the Spring and Fall. These events are our way to invite the community and other PrEP providers to meet and discuss what’s new in the world of HIV PrEP prevention and brainstorm ways to reduce barriers to accessing PrEP . We look forward to having you as clients or supporters in our mission to ensure that Brooklyn is PrEP’d to stop HIV.

Your Health, Your Control

Robust Protection for Everyone

Whether you're straight, gay, lesbian, transgender, black, Latino, or from any other community, PrEP offers robust protection against HIV. When taken correctly, it reduces the risk of getting HIV from sex by about 99%

An Inclusive Shield

PrEP is for everyone at high risk of HIV, regardless of your sexuality or race. It's a universal shield, offering peace of mind and control over your health.  PrEP is typically taken once daily. However, your doctor can provide specific instructions based on your health needs.

Freedom and Empowerment

PrEP, whether as a pill or injectable, is more than just a method to stay HIV negative - it's a commitment to your health, future, and peace of mind. No matter who you are or where you hail from, PrEP hands you the reins of control. Embrace the power of PrEP today!"

 Universal Accessibility

PrEP is accessible to all, covered by most insurance plans, Medicaid, and other programs. No matter who you are or where you come from, PrEP is within reach.

Complementary ProtectioN

PrEP works with other protective methods like condoms, providing an added layer of security for all. This combined approach to protection creates a comprehensive safety net, offering peace of mind and empowering individuals to take control of their sexual health.

YOUR CHOICES

PrEP is available in two main forms: oral and injectable. The oral form comes as a pill. These pills are taken daily for continuous protection against HIV. On the other hand, the injectable form of PrEP, is a long-acting option. It's given as an injection every eight weeks, offering a convenient alternative for those who prefer not to take daily medication.
