About the Event

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University invites our campus and the broader Brooklyn community to take part in the HEAT Program’s World AIDS Day Symposium: HEAT’s Legacy of Healing and Hope on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM in the Alumni Auditorium. Interactive elements and refreshments will commence at 3:30 PM. The ceremony will begin at 5:15 PM.

World AIDS Day is a time to remember those we have lost, to honor those who continue the work, and to reaffirm our shared commitment to compassionate, equitable care. This year’s symposium offers an evening of reflection and community connection, featuring performances, a panel discussion, and moments of recognition for HEAT staff who have devoted more than twenty years to serving youth and young adults in Brooklyn.

We welcome students, faculty, staff, partners, and neighbors to join us in observing this meaningful day and standing together…
