At the HEAT Program, we don’t just talk about sexual health—we center it as a core pillar of youth empowerment. For Black, Brown, LGBTQIA+, and immigrant youth in Brooklyn, access to sexual health information isn’t just a public health matter—it’s a human right.
From East Flatbush to across NYC, our teams meet young people where they are, providing affirming care, nonjudgmental spaces, and youth-friendly education rooted in truth, equity, and resilience.
Because when youth are informed, supported, and affirmed—they make empowered decisions that protect their health and uplift their future.

🔍 Why Sexual Health Education Matters More Than Ever
Navigating adolescence and young adulthood can be overwhelming, especially in a world where stigma, misinformation, and access gaps still persist.
That’s why HEAT’s sexual health initiatives go far beyond the basics. We create culturally responsive programs that:
Address identity, consent, and emotional well-being
Normalize conversations around STIs, PrEP, PEP, DoxyPEP, and contraception
Affirm gender diversity and body autonomy
Equip youth with decision-making and advocacy skills
Encourage open communication and reduce stigma
Whether it’s a classroom workshop, a TikTok post, a peer educator-led session, or one-on-one support, our goal is always the same: meet youth with facts, respect, and care.
📈 What Our Programs Deliver
Our approach is holistic and rooted in community realities. When done right, youth sexual health programs like ours result in:
✨ Increased PrEP and PEP access and awareness
✨ Fewer STIs and unintended pregnancies
✨ Better mental health and reduced shame
✨ Stronger communication and consent literacy
✨ More confident, connected, and empowered youth
And it’s not just about health—it’s about justice.
🛠 How We Build Impactful Programs
At HEAT, we work collaboratively—with youth, providers, families, and community members—to ensure our programs speak to the lived experiences of our communities.
Here’s how we build it:
Community Needs First. From community feedback to data on disparities in Brooklyn, we shape programs that address real gaps.
Youth In the Lead. From PrEP Ambassadors to content co-creators, our youth shape the message, delivery, and vibe.
Curriculum with Heart. Topics we cover include:
Consent & communication
STI prevention & testing
PrEP, PEP, DoxyPEP, and condom use
Healthy relationships
Gender identity & orientation
Navigating care with confidence
Culturally Competent EducatorsOur facilitators reflect the youth we serve—bringing lived experience, empathy, and trust into every space.
Constant Feedback = Real GrowthWe listen. We learn. We adapt. Youth tell us what’s working and what needs to change—and we follow their lead.
🔑 The 5 P’s of Sexual Health (HEAT Edition)
A critical tool we use is the “5 P’s,” helping youth understand and take control of their sexual health through a holistic lens:
Partners: Understand your sexual network and risks.
Practices: Know how different acts affect STI risk.
Protection from STIs: Use condoms, PrEP, and regular testing.
Past History of STIs: Get tested regularly and understand your history.
Prevention of Pregnancy: Explore birth control methods and emergency options.
We don’t judge—we inform. We don’t assume—we ask. We don’t shame—we affirm.
🌍 Taking it to the Community
Sexual health doesn’t start and stop in the clinic. HEAT integrates our education into:
🔹 Community health fairs
🔹 Social media campaigns (@heatprogrambk)
🔹 Workshops in schools and shelters
🔹 Confidential helplines and drop-in hours
🔹 Free testing & linkage to care at our East Flatbush location
🔹 Events that celebrate joy, sex-positivity, and self-love
We create spaces where youth can access services and see themselves reflected in the care they receive.
🔮 What It All Leads To: A Future Where Youth Thrive
When young people feel safe to ask questions, get tested, explore their identity, or access HIV prevention without fear—they build lifelong habits of health, confidence, and empowerment.
Sexual health education is not just about prevention. It’s about:
🌱 Building trust
🌈 Centering agency
💬 Encouraging dialogue
❤️ Fostering respect
At HEAT, we’re not only preparing youth to protect themselves—we’re preparing them to advocate for their needs and lead the change their communities deserve.
